Outdoor ropes Course

The Bedford YMCA ropes course is one of the best kept secrets in Bedford County. Bedford YMCA Summer Camps, the Bedford YMCA Day Services Program participants, Bedford YMCA soccer teams, and Bedford County students have all enjoyed the elements. Exciting staff trainings have been held on the high ropes and challenge courses. A lot of children have had really cool birthday parties using the high ropes course. Plus our YMCA staff have even traveled to businesses to put their employees through a group initiative course on site!

Indoor Challenge Ropes Course

We have 7 indoor climbing elements for a year-round challenge experience. Each element offers its own challenge.

Elements include:

  • Dangling Duo-a giant ladder constructed of wooden timbers and cable wire. This is a partner activity that requires problem solving and physical strength
  • Rope Ladder-the traditional rope ladder with wooden rungs supported by two ropes on each side
  • Fire Cracker Ladder-similar to the traditional rope ladder only with a single rope in the middle of each wooden rung offering more challenge
  • Knotted Rope Ladder-just as it sounds, this is a ladder made entirely of a knotted rope
  • Centipede-a dangling ladder, which is made with alternating staples on vertical timbers
  • Indoor Climbing Wall-an indoor version of our outdoor climbing wall, offering four climbing stations
  • Traversing Wall– a climbing wall which runs horizontally along the wall rather than vertically
