When kids experience the YMCA Day Camp, they experience something new every day like the power of a positive mentor, the confidence that comes from trying…and succeeding, and the importance of healthy, long-lasting friendships. Of course, they don’t know this. They just think they’re having a whole lot of fun.

Activities include devotions, arts, crafts, outdoor/indoor games, and field trips that are based on a weekly theme. Fit for Life activities also include Hop Sports (a program which involves a variety of physical activities such as kickboxing, circuit training, pilates, and yoga). The campers will read from a book of their choice during the daily D.E.A.R. Time (Drop Everything And Read). Drop off time is between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and all campers are to be picked up by 6:00 p.m. Campers must bring their lunch and the YMCA will provide a nutritious snack each day.

REGISTRATION will begin Monday, March 30, 2009. A registration form must be completed to its entirety including two emergency contacts with their full addresses and phone numbers.  Parents MUST bring a copy of their child’s birth certificate and their child’s school entrance physical and immunization records, signed by a physician, if their child has not attended the Bedford Area Family YMCA directed child care programs before.  Completed registration forms and the appropriate deposit may be returned to the Bedford Area Family YMCA main office or mailed to PO BOX 1026, Bedford, VA 24523.  Completed registration forms may also be turned into the Bedford YMCA directed After School Programs at Forest, New London Academy, and Thomas Jefferson Elementary schools between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.  The Bedford Area Family YMCA has the right to refuse registration to anyone that does not provide all of the above information.

REGISTRATION FEE is $20 per child when registration forms are returned between March 30th and May 29th.  The Registration Fee will be $40 after May 29th.  Please include your child’s t-shirt size, as this is included in this fee.

WEEKLY FEES are $85/week for the first child and $80/week for each additional sibling. This deposit includes the transportation fee.  To reserve a space, a $20 deposit must be paid for each week and for each child.  This deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE and will be credited toward each week of attendance.   If you have reserved a week with the $20 deposit, but your child does not attend that week, the $20 deposit will NOT be refunded or transferred.
